Hydrangeas, sun effect at the seaside, Brittany or Normandy, Jeanne Lauvernay-Petitjean

Oil on cardboard signed Jeanne Lauvernay-Petitjean (1875-1955), certainly exhibited at the Salon of French Artists in 1941 under the title “Hydrangeas, sun effect by the sea”.

Jeanne Lauvernay-Petitjean has a predilection for still lifes, especially bouquets of flowers, but she also paints gardens, landscapes and portraits. His art is part of figurative painting inherited from the Impressionist period.

She was a pupil of Antoine Ferdinand Attendu (1845–1905) and René Louis Chrétien (1867–1942). She made her debut at the Salon of French Artists in 1894 and became a member of the Society of French Artists in 1895.
