Joseph-Albert Ponsin (1842-1899) nicknamed the “Vitrarius”, actor and songwriter, became a recognized master glassmaker in the last quarter of the 19th century. He notably created stained glass windows for Sarah Bernhardt’s private mansion, rue Fortuny. In 1879, Joseph-Albert Ponsin commissioned Alfred Boland to build a neo-Renaissance mansion at 42 on the same street. pacious, the hotel concentrated several functions with living spaces, the workshop and the exhibition spaces.
